Even in cases where lasers are used for filling, traditional drills are still needed to shape and polish the filling, or to adjust the bite. The need for anesthesia is not fully eliminated in use of lasers. One of the most important factors to be considered is that a laser treatment tends to be more expensive than a dental drill. It could be even 75 times higher when compared with the use of a standard dental drill.
